Date: 08 Mar 2005 Time: 17:18:27 I so greatly appreciate whoever has made this info available. I have discovered info I never thought would be found on my gr-gr-gr grandmother. On 2 census records in Columbus, Ga she indicated that she and her parents were born in VA and she was from Alexandria. I was so happy just to find that. Then some kind person noticed my post on a southern link and told me to check this site as they were also searching this area. That was around Christmas 2004. I looked over the list but for some reason didn't find anything. This has been a spiritual search for me. I'm nudged on even when I want to give in. Something told me to look again at your site. This time I used my search engine to look for first names, and THERE BEFORE MY EYES was my gr gr gr grandmother Charlotte with her 2 children known to me as Bell and Logan. There was so much info. Charlotte had been married twice that I know of, but she must have also been passed between families as the manumission records listed her as Charlotte Butcher (now Hanson)and her children Isabella and Logan were Fitzhughs'. It is possible she was owned by a William Fitzhugh, but that is my speculation. Her manumission record is dated 1/24/1850. The record was witnessed by Robert Bell and John T. Creighton - L-3:169. Can anyone tell me how or if I can get a copy of the record itself and if so would it give me any additional info. I thank you all so VERY VERY MUCH. My email is Pamela000@Ameritech.net |

Date: 28 May 2005 Time: 16:01:21 Hello Pam, I am looking to find church cemeteries in Southampton County, Virginia, particularly in Danville. I am having difficulty getting past 1860's in my geneology search. I have recently become serious about doing research on my family. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you, Delores Perkins Garden Grove, CA |
