The Friends of Freedmen's Cemetery would like to welcome you to our new website.
We hope that, in addition to acquainting the public to this important historic and spiritual site, we can provide you with assistance in researching African Americans in Alexandria.
Please consult the bottom of our history page for documents containing historical and genealogical information. We will continue to add to the resources over time, especially relating to Alexandria's African Americans of the Civil War era, as well as of the antebellum and postwar eras.
We welcome your contributions. Please use this message board for posting on any related subjects.
We would like to offer blurbs on families and individuals and would be happy to post your research, if you wish. We are most interested in connecting with individuals with ancestors buried in Freedmen's Cemetery or simply living in Alexandria during the 1860s. |
